  1. Repurposed Florals

Repurposing florals from your ceremony is one of the easiest (and most budget friendly!) ways to add drama to your wedding cake table. Florals have such a high impact and immediately elevate the feeling of a space.

Have a chat to your florist to see what is possible based on the mechanics they’ll be using for your ceremony installations. This way you’ll get the most value out of your flower arrangements by using them more than once on your wedding day. If your ceremony flowers cant be moved even just placing your bouquet on the cake table can add interest.

These stunning wedding cake table decorations were all created using repurposed florals.

2. Tablecloths

If you thought the florals were bringing the drama take a look at these tablecloths! Elaborate ruched and knotted tablecloths like these are absolutely having a moment right now and your wedding cake table is a perfect spot to use one. Keep in mind the overall style of your wedding and if this doesn’t suit your wedding theme try something like a simple linen tablecloth for a relaxed but refined garden party or something bright and patterned for a fun, retro vibe.

3. Fabric

Ok hear me out, this is not the same as using a tablecloth! A smaller piece of draping fabric can be used to add texture and dimension without covering your whole wedding cake table. A key component of decorating your wedding cake table should be adding layers for visual interest and styling fabrics are perfect for this!

5. Cake Stands

Another great, and simple, way to add some height to your wedding cake display table is to use a cake stand. Cake stands come in all different sizes, shapes and styles. Your wedding cake designer, stylist or venue may have cake stands that you can hire or you can also purchase one that will then become a lovely keepsake which will remind you of your wedding every time you have a beautiful dessert at home!

4. Plinths

Your wedding cake table doesn’t actually have to be a table at all! Plinths are a common wedding styling item, particularly for ceremonies but they are also perfect for displaying your wedding cake. Using plinths gives you so many options for decorating around your wedding cake as the different heights can be used for other decorative elements we’ve already discussed like florals and styling fabrics. The added height of a plinth also puts your wedding cake closer to eye level so you and your guests are viewing it at the best angle i.e not looking down at it and only seeing the top.

6. Fruit

Fruit styling is a huge trend at weddings at the moment and you’ve probably already seen it all over Pinterest on reception tables, bars and even at wedding ceremonies. If you’re planning to use fruit as a styling element elsewhere at your wedding don’t forget to set some aside for your wedding cake table as well! You don’t need a whole lot, even just a few berries, a bunch of grapes or a fig or two can elevate the look.

7. Multiple Cakes

You dont have to have one big wedding cake! Having a a number of smaller cakes give you more to work with and you can create a dynamic scene using a number of the styling ideas above. A luscious wedding dessert table with floral arrangements and other table decor creates an inviting scene that your guests will be dying to check out.

None of these wedding cake styling ideas have to take a load of effort or break your budget (which lets be honest is probably already struggling!) but just a little bit of extra magic can really transform your wedding cake table from boring to unforgettable.
